Eliza Smith has never been the one to seek a relationship. She’s never dated a guy in her life, never even hugged a man (outside of her father/manager of the hot and popular rock band, FireNine) but when she decides to spend her summer on tour with FireNine, it all changes. Eliza really gets to meet Gage Grendel - her former crush from high school and the lead singer of FireNine - and witness sides to him to which she’ll begin to truly despise.
She’ll ignore him, she’ll dislike his ways, she’ll do anything to try and stay away from him until Gage finally gets her to slip up and give in. She agrees on a casual fling with Gage, but soon they’ll both see how the fling will blur into something they can’t control and when it’s finally time for Eliza to go and accomplish her own dreams, she’ll know there’s more she took from Gage than she ever thought possible.

The story starts off with a dark prologue that hooked me in. Eliza has had a rough life living with her mother. When she gets the chance to live with her Father Ben she takes it. Eliza pushes through the past and focuses on her future, art. She takes the summer off to go on tour with her dad Ben who is the manager for FireNine a band that is making a really big name right now. She is very closed off from people due to her horrible childhood that she still has major issues with. Eliza is just a plane girl that wants to hide away from everyone so she can't get hurt. She has never been kissed or anything for that matter.
"Thanks, Eliza...Actually, I think I'll call you Ellie. Just came up with it. Sounds better. "Fits you."
The chemistry is there but they both hold off on making any moves. Eliza tries to from friendships for the first time ever with the guys in the band and Gage gets jealous from it but the way he expresses it pisses off Eliza. As they build a friendship he seems to confuse the hell out of her. He gets all weird when he sees her talking to Montana (love him) and anyone else around.
"So you are intrigued by blonds," he said.
My eyes narrowed. "How?"
"Well, Cal has blond hair. Montana...I'm just putting two and two together, here Ellie.
Gage likes to send her mixed messages that confuse the heck out of her. Ellie is never sure what to expect from Gage and his man whoring ways.
"Did I not mention before that I find you hot? Sexy? Getting a dance from you was one of the many things I wanted from my 'what I'd like from Ellie' list". "I'm sure if I were to mention the others we wouldn't be sitting here right now. In fact, a bed and handcuffs would most likely be involved."
There friendship deepens and she gives in to a friends with benifits situation. Gage has different motives I can feel it. He wants her and she becomes his main focus, he spends as much time with her as possible and that causes a problem with one of his band mates.
"I don't want your fucking apology, Gage. I dont need it. I see who's more important to you now, even when you've known me for pretty much your whole fucking life and you're just now getting to know her. Even when you gave me your fucking word."
I mean this guy is very hot and the way he pursues Eliza is hot and cold. There is something that Gage is holding back on. you can feel that he has fallen in love with her and that he would do anything for her. Once he open up and tells Ellie about his shitty past you just love him more. That man has got some feelings and he puts her first the best he can. They both open up to one anoter and confess there childhood past. Gage's past is just as heartbreaking as Eliza's. They both give what they can to one another and I know at this point that Gage has really fallen in love with her.
But a part of him changed somehow. It wasn't a complete change, but it was enough, and the saddest, most heart--wrenching part about it was the changes were made for me. The changes were made so he could love me.
The ending was so fucking heart breaking. There is more to this story to be told, yes the cliffhanger sucks but we get the first two chapters in the next book and it should be out in September sometime I hope. I cant say it enough I loved LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. I am cheering on my new favorite book couple, yes they are going to be amazing.
