My sister in law told me about this book a while back and said it was really good, she loved the story and just overall said the book was amazing. I have to say that I totally agree. The love story was unconventional but was a love story none the less.
Get ready for a ride with Lady Luck. She will take you out and give you what you are looking for put several spins on it that you may not see coming and leave feeling very sated with this book. If you have not read the book you are missing out on Team Walker and all that is Ty and Lexie.
Ty Walker has just bee released from prison after serving 5 years for a murder that he did not commit. Lexie Berry is the person picking him up from prison. They have never meet, she is doing a not so friend named Shift a favor. She does not mess with Shift as he is not the good type friend. So she does this as a way to keep Shift away.
This starts their relationship that really seems to latch on to one another. They fit. He is Mr. Humungo and she is just plain silly. She is the jelly to his peanut butter. As their friendship grows they learn to trust one another and there for this "arrangement" starts to become more and it just becomes something so good.
This book is about righting what was wrong, finding your peace in the storm. Well there was a big storm for all those that were around. I do not want to give away the reason why Ty was put in prison for a crime he did not commit, all I can say is there is a lot of corruption in the little town in the Colorado Mountains and you have got to keep up. Kristen did a wonderful job at keeping the pace and it flowed perfectly.
Ty and Lexi what can I say about these two characters? Lexi jumps into the wife roll so perfectly and Ty well once he gets a taste of her, he is done for. The thing that I love most about them is that they were not this "sappy in love" couple. They had real situations that they needed to address together as a team. Both had rough starts to life. Lexi's got better thanks to her late boyfriends family. Ty's, well that never got better. It made them both who they are today.
So that is all that I am going to leave you with. There is SO much more to this book that I would love to discuss with you, but I feel that it would take away from the suspense of the book. So have a go at it. You do not have to read the other books first in this series. I have not yet, but I will be now.
Lastly, Kirsten gaves us an epilogue that was so good, everything came full circle and I really just felt fulfilled with all that was in this book. I felt all the emotions that she was trying to make us the readers feel. The relationships that her family made were nothing but real.
EXCERPT
“I know it’s fake but thank you, Ty. I never expected to have anything that nice and it is nice, no matter what. So thank you for giving it to me.”
He didn’t speak but his eyes changed, one of those changes I didn’t know, didn’t yet understand but this one was meaningful. They all were but this one was more meaningful than the rest.
A lot more.
And I couldn’t stop myself, his eyes so close, that look in them, my arms moved from around his shoulders, my hands framed his face, I leaned up and whispered, “Thank you.”
Then I pressed my lips to his.
I meant to give him a soft kiss of gratitude. This was not to say I didn’t want to give him a long, hard, wet kiss of something else. And just what I wanted to give him and what that would lead to had also been filling my head space the last couple of days but that wasn’t where I intended to go just then. Not yet. Not with a house full of people downstairs waiting to eat fried chicken.
But when my mouth hit his, he didn’t give me the chance to give him a soft kiss of gratitude.
Instantly, his fingers slid up into my hair, cupping my head, and his mouth opened over mine making a demand.
Mine complied. His tongue spiked into my mouth and I liked the taste of it, I hadn’t had it in what seemed like a decade, I missed it and he tasted so fucking good my body pressed into his and not just because his arm around me grew super tight.
Then I was twisted, on my back in what was, I noted vaguely and was unbelievably happy for, a bed. His torso was on mine, his hips beside mine, his long, heavy leg moved to tangle with mine as his tongue moved in my mouth. I wrapped one arm around his back, one around his shoulders, my hand moving to cup the back of his head and hold him to me.
God, he couldn’t kiss. He could kiss.

Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family.
