Twenty-five-year-old Corbin Kasey is stuck in his hometown, his job, and his life, spending more time covering for his Dad’s problems than trying to fix his own. To take his mind off everything he has the wild Kayla, his stable roommates, and the calmness of swimming in Mills Lake. MY 4 STAR REVIEW
I really enjoyed reading this book. Sophia is running from her family after a tragic accident that she is trying to escape from. She moves into a place after answering an add. Her roommates Tobie and Tosh. They are a couple and expecting a baby. I just loved both of her roommates, they welcomed her into there home and seem to genuinely care for her. Sophia is damaged from what she hiding and not sure that she will ever be able to come out of it OK. Tobie takes her in and understands that Sophia will come around when she is ready.
Corbin has his own problems that a few people know about, he hates being stuck in this town but feels that he owes his friends and those that work for his dad. His outlet is swimming in the lake. He meets Sophia and knows that there is something different about her. As they forge a friendship, Corbin sees that she is deeply troubled with her secret. He knows what to do when she is freaking out and becomes someone that Sophia can trust.
Here's the thing though, while I was reading this I was so scared that what ever it was that connected Corbin and Sophia was going to be to much for me to handle. When I got to that point I had to reread it. I was shocked. I did not know what to feel other than pain. I did not see it coming and all I could think was this is going to be OK, it would be fixed. SO...... there is no super cliffhanger the book does end, I just wanted more.
There were a few more hiccups in the book one that broke me. You will know when you read it. I just cried. I loved all the characters in the book they all and a love for one another and they all cherished there friendships. This was a story about finding your way out of the darkest part of your life and finding light at the end of the tunnel. It's about not being okay and learning to live with that, you will get better.
I hope to see more in the coming books and I just know that TJ Hannah is just getting started with this series and I can not wait to read more from her.
