Let Love Stay

If you’re lucky, you’ll fall in love – truly, madly and deeply in love. But what happens when that honest and pure love isn’t enough to erase your fears? What happens when your past rears its ugly head and threatens your future?
Maddy and Reid had that kind of love – the all-encompassing, Earth shattering, once in a lifetime kind of love. Then life happened. Old wounds that were thought to be long healed and scabbed over are ripped opened and they are forced to face the possibility that, maybe, they are not strong enough to fight their demons and embrace the light.

Together, they found out what love is, but now they will each need to heal on their own before they can ever be together again. They must face their fears and beat down their pasts in order to find their way through this crazy uphill battle called love.

They’ve let love in, but now, they need to find out how to Let Love Stay.

Thank goodness for conclusions.

After Maddy pushes Reid away at the hospital Reid is heart broken.  He does not want to walk away from Maddy but he need to figure out what to do.  He is not really ready to forgive his mother and he is still in shock that Maddy is pregnant.  Reid does know that he loves Maddy and he is not ready to walk away but is willing to giver her some time.

This book focuses mostly on Reid and his need to move on with his past.  Reid takes a trip to go visit his mother who is dying.  He has no idea of what her life has been like sense he left home four years ago.  He sees how sick she is and has a hard time between feeling angry at her and part of him actually caring.  His mothers new husband Joe and his daughter Katie take Reid in and treat him like family, what a family should be like and show him love.

Reid was able to talk about his family with his roommate and it helped him see the walls that he had created around him needed to come down and it was time to face his demons weather or not he wanted to.  Reid finally understand that he needs to make some kind of peace with his his mother in order to move on.  I was so glad that he got to talk to her and get some part of closure with his past.

He does back to Maddy and they agree that they want to make things work but they need to do this together.  There is so much for them to say and talk about.  They hit a few bumps in the road nothing earth shattering.  In the short time frame of the book both Reid and Maddy grow up quick.  They learn to talk more and be honest with one another.  Reid needed to go see his mother again and was very scared to see her knowing that would be it.  But he knows that he can get through anything with Maddy by his side.   Getting closure on his past is what he needs to go forward with his life.

The conclusion to this book was good.  I am happy that Reid and Maddy and there little bundle got an HEA.  The story was written beautifully.  I even learned a little something from this book and it is about always communicating.  Sometimes we forget that.
