Bethany Amaya is working three jobs, worrying about her family back home, and running from her past. The worst thing that could complicate her life further would be a romance. But after a second-run in with the irresistibly sexy detective Damian Santiago, that's exactly what she gets. In the blink of an eye, she's caught up in a passionate romance with one of the most intense men she's ever met.
Awestruck for a second time by the beautiful and intriguing performer, Damian is both surprised and delighted that Bethany agrees to something he didn't even expect to be asking for so soon--exclusivity. As things heat up, Damian's skills of detecting and reading body language begin to raise suspicions--Bethany is keeping something from him. Try as he might to calm his suspicions, the blatant signs become impossible to ignore.
Some things are better left unsaid. At least that's what Bethany keeps telling herself. She never imagined falling in love so quickly, and she refuses to get Damian caught up in her troubles. She knows what he suspects--sees it in those possessive eyes. With Damian's suspicions mounting, time is of the essence. The race is on, and Bethany finds herself scrambling to fix the past before the truth comes out and Damian finds out that it's much worse than he suspected.
My Review
Bethany is hiding. From what we don't know. She was over worked trying to take care of some personal matters and meets Damian at one of her jobs. She is instantly attracted to him and sings her heart out. I liked her character, she was guarded in a way that was not over bearing. She wanted Damian just as much as he wanted her. The attraction was strong but not overly played. They had a good courtship and the book was not all about them.
"You do that with everyone?"
Making sure she made her point, she looked him straight in the eye. "No Damian. I don't. You're the only one that's ever happened with. Its nice feeling special, isn't it?"
I loved that the connection Bethany and Damian were both on the same page with one another. Damian's family was great and I was surprised with them welcoming Bethany so quickly.
"I should not be feeling what I fell when I'm around you, especially this soon. But I am. And the craziest thing about it is I think you're feeling it, too."
Damian is a good cop, comes from a good family background and is close with his father and brothers and sister. Oh, wait till you read what his family does for a living, very cool. I thought that Elizabeth was very creative in that tidbit. Damian took his time with Bethany and was understanding of her work schedules. I enjoyed that he was not "Mr. Alpha" crazy, he did want to help her out but seemed to comply with her refusing. I add the he is a juicy man. I would love me some Damian for sure. Anytime baby.

The book over all was good. It held my interest, kept me wondering what it was that she was hiding from Damian. I had no clue. I could not figure it out. That kept me thinking that this was going to big. Well for me it was and it wasn't. I don't know if I was expecting more BANG and felt a little let down over it sorta. I liked that I did not see the "SECRET" coming. Sometimes we can figure it out before we get to the surprise and then it is not big deal right? I hate that I felt this way a little and was not sure what to do with it. Yet there was so much more to the story than the SECRET she was hiding. Once everything was out in the open I was pleased with how the resolutions were made.
Once I learned more I wanted more and the book was over. I felt as if I was left on a book hangover AGAIN. BUT, no cliffhanger. The story of Damian and Bethany wraps up, yet I am hoping that Elizabeth is going to give us more of the Satagio family. I would recommend this book for sure.
