It's a nothing job in a nowhere joint . . . until Tatum Jackson walks in. Lauren has never seen a man with such good looks, muscles, and attitude. But when he insults her, Lauren doesn't want anything to do with him. Too bad for Lauren he's also the bar's part owner and bartender.

When the rough-around-the-edges Tate meets the high-class Lauren, he thinks she won't fit in at Bubba's. Yet there's more to Lauren than meets the eye, and Tate soon sets his mind on claiming her as his own. Before long, the desire burning between them is heating up the cold mountain air. But when violence strikes the town, Tate must reveal a dark secret to Lauren-one that may put an end to their sweet dreams.

Tate kept my hand in his as we walked to room three, which was way closer to Ned and Betty’s. I had to walk double-time to keep up with his long strides. He didn’t release my hand when he made it to the door. He just unlocked it, opened it, and pushed me inside.
I walked four steps in while Tate flipped the light switch.
It was an exact copy of my other room, to the letter.
I threw my purse on the bed, turned to Tate, and remarked,
“Weird, it’s like I didn’t even move. It’s the same room.”
“Enjoy the ride?” Tate asked and I blinked at him.
“Sorry?”
“Did you enjoy the ride, Lauren?” he repeated and I smiled.
“Yes, Tate, it was—”
I didn’t finish but I made another sound. It was a gasp because one second he was standing inside the closed door. The next he was standing right in front of me, one of his hands was sliding up my neck into my hair, the other arm was wrapped around my waist pulling my body into his.
“What are you—?” I got out before his fingers in my hair fisted, pulled down just a tad less than gentle, and his mouth was on mine.
And he kissed me.
No. He kissed me.
Brad was a good kisser and he was great in bed. He wasn’t my first kiss though, or my first lover. I’d had a better kisser than Brad, but not a better lover.
But Tate’s kiss . . .
There was no describing it.
It didn’t start slow. It started hard and wet and so demanding
I had no choice but to give back what I got. And I did. Our tongues sparred, then our teeth bit at each other’s lips and our heads twisted this way and that, all of it a mindless, sexy dance that was all- consuming. There was nothing but his mouth and my mouth, what they were doing and what they were making me feel. Nothing. Not in the whole universe.
When he lifted his head a fraction of an inch I found one of my hands was up his shirt in the back and one of them was cupping the back of his head. His hand was still fisted in my hair but his other arm had moved up to curve tight just under my shoulder blades, the pads of his fingers pressed into the side of my breast.
We both were breathing deep, our breaths mingling between us. I could feel his on my sensitized lips and he had to feel mine.
Finally, he spoke. “Shit, Ace.”
“Shit what?” I whispered, staring into his eyes, so close, I could count the tawny flecks.
“This isn’t good,” he whispered back and I swallowed and felt a sour pit forming in my belly.
“It isn’t?”
“I gotta focus.” He went on whispering.
“On what?” I asked, also whispering.
“On shit that doesn’t include what that mouth and tongue of yours could do to my cock.”
My hand at his back fisted. “Tate—”
“And if your pussy is as sweet as your mouth.”
“Tate—”
“Shit,” he muttered.
“Tate—”
“I gotta find this guy,” he told me.
“I know.”
“I get back, Lauren, you’re on the back of my bike.”
I blinked at what he said, mostly because I didn’t understand it. Then I swayed because he let me go and without a word or looking back, the door to my room closed behind him.
Several moments later, when I could speak, I asked the door, “Get back from where?”
Like the hall earlier that day, the door didn’t have an answer.

About the author:
Kristen Ashley grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana, and has lived in Denver, Colorado, and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multigenerational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland, and Kristen grew up listening to the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon, and Whitesnake. Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music and love was a good way to grow up.  And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.

MY REVIEW

Finally I got my hands on this book.  I have been dying to know how Breccan and his Dove’s story ends.  Jessica did not disappoint me at all in this book.  There were so many reasons why she left him.  Mostly to protect him from others hurting him, to protect herself from being found and well her past was really bad, what if Breccan can not handle it?

“I love him so much and I am so scared of the world around me.  I’m scared of the love we have.  Of the forces outside of my control.”

Harper and Breccan both do not handle the break up well at all.  Her friends are there for her to either get her back with him or to move on.  Her support system is just what it is, they support her.  The only thing is that she does not see it that way.  It will take her some time to realize that not just Brynn and Avery care about her but her coworkers as well.

I just love Nikko, he is a great father figure for Harper, loves her as if she were his daughter, supports her wants and wishes even when she is wrong.  When she is troubled, his advice is loving and sometimes the truth is not what you want to hear.

Breccan gives Harper the time she needs and then comes back for her.  He knows her reasons for doing so must have her scared out of her mind.  So he goes, for a little while.  Then he comes for her.

Breccan shakes his head before continuing.  “There is no way that I would let you go.  I thought that if I gave you time to cool down, that you would come to me.  I needed you to realize that you want this and open up to me.  For you to realize that you can trust me.”

Things go well for a while and then some events start to happen that make Harper aware that her fears are indeed very real.  She has to tell Breccan everything so he can make that choice if he wants to stay of leave.

“That is pretty heavy stuff when you think about it.  For someone to love you so completely that none of your flaws matter.  They even cease to matter to you in a way.”

The book wraps up really nice, with one of the best epilog’s.  Jessica gave us one hell of a HEA.  The only sad thing about HEA’s is just that, it’s an HEA and there will be no more.

Here is a little of my likes and dislikes.

Translucent by Erin Noelle

Synopsis

Sometimes you reach a point where you just can’t take any more – a breaking point some call it. The day I watched my husband murder the woman who was pregnant with his child, my point didn’t just break, it exploded like a magazine firing through the barrel of a fully-automatic AK-47. Literally. I am no longer his American Princess, nor am I his slave. Now, I’m a murderer in hiding. My name was Bryleigh Carter Oliveira and that was my story.

Translucent is one woman's story of breaking free, starting over, and learning to trust again through willful submission.

I am completely blown away with this book.  Erin has stepped outside of her comfort zone and wrote her best book yet.  I don’t mean this in a bad way, this book just shows how her writing has evolved and it has evolved to great things.  The first page pulled me in and I could not stop reading.

I loved everything about this book.  The build up that Erin brought us to, the clues that she placed in the book.  I just held on tight.  Be warned that this book is a dark read.

Blake is living a different life, she is hiding from her past.  Starting a new life  and job she getting by day by day.  She is not really living at all.  Her past is dark and very disturbing.  The pain that she lived through broke my heart.  I am shocked that she is not crazy.  Her story is so heartbreaking and every time I learn a little more about her past I am shocked knowing that “it can alway get worse.”  But it does.  Some of the situations that she was put through were so surprising that I could not stop reading.  Erin is a flipping genius for this.  She pushed the envelope with this book, and fucking nailed it.

Madden is a rich business man that meets Blake in a board meeting and is instantly attracted to her. Madden goes beyond your typical Alpha male in this book.  He knows that Blake is very damaged and everything he has seen from her, I am not surprised he is not running for the hills or another country.  He wants to help her, understand her and try to get her to be better.  The issue is that I don't know how anyone can recover from the hell that Blake lived through.

Building trust is a hard thing and that is all that Madden wants to do with Blake.  Get her to trust him.  Is he trust worthy?  Hell yes.  This man has earned it.  Blake suffers from terrible dreams and Madden is there to see what happens when she has these dreams.

“But I’m a mess, Madden.  You've seen it for yourself.  Why not find some girl who isn't a mental-basket case that self mutilates herself?  You can have any girl you want want.”

Blake has to learn to live.  Yes she is hiding, yes she has some serious things to work out, Madden wants to be right there with her to help her move forward with her life.  There are a few hints of what will bring her past and present together and I look forward to seeing if I am right and how things will wrap up in the next book.

Anyways, like I said before this book was perfect.  There is another book in this series and it will be here really soon.  So yes there is a cliffhanger but I am fine with it.  The small wait is worth it.
Excerpt
Meet Bryleigh Carter…

Picking me up off the bed, Ish threw me over his shoulder and marched out of the hotel room, into the pitch-black night. Scared speechless, I didn’t make a peep as he strode into the small motel office and dropped me on the floor. The male front desk attendant that had rented me the room had eyes as big as saucers, obviously fearful of Ish and the scene unfolding in front of him.

“Did you give her a room to stay in?” he demanded.

The older man nodded, taking a small step backwards.

“Don’t you fucking move, Gramps, and answer me when I ask you a goddamn question.”

“Y-yes, I gave her a room,” he admitted in a cracked voice.

“Did she pay you with money, or did she fuck you for it?”

“She paid me with money, sir. I don’t run that kind of business.” The man looked down at me huddled in a corner on the floor, and then back up at Ish. “She never even offered that kind of thing.”

Ish stomped around to the back of the counter and held his hand out, palm up. “She wants a refund. She’s not staying here tonight.”

Trembling, the man opened the cash register and pulled out some cash, setting it in Ish’s hand. As he did, Ish grabbed hold of his wrist and twisted it behind his back.

“Please…please don’t hurt me,” the man begged. “I didn’t know I was doing anything wrong.”

“No, you probably didn’t, but she did,” Ish spat, his fiery eyes darting over to me. “Princesa, did you know you were doing something wrong?”

The growing sob that had built in the back of my throat escaped as I nodded and said, “Yes, I did.”

“Well, someone needs to be punished for your bad behavior to remind you not to do something like this again.”

“Punish me, Ish,” I cried. “That poor man has nothing to do with this. Please, let him go.”

He glanced over at the man he held in a tight hold, and then back at me before releasing an evil laugh that echoed loudly throughout the small room. “Sorry, Princesa, but I need you to be pretty for our upcoming wedding.” Then, without warning, he pulled a long-bladed knife from the leg of his pants and chopped the man’s hand clear off in one swing. I’m not sure who screamed louder, me or the man, but within seconds, it was only my high-pitched voice shrieking, because Ish took the knife and slit the man’s throat, killing him instantaneously. Dropping the bloody body, he stalked towards me, bent down to my level, and clamped his hand on top of my mouth.

“Quiet now, Bryleigh, before you alert anyone else and I do the same thing to them. You don’t want to be the reason anyone else dies tonight, do you?” he whispered in my ear.

Immediately, I stop screaming, knowing damn well he would do exactly what he promised. “Now, that’s my good Princesa,” he said, stroking my hair. “We should get out of here. I’m going to carry you to the car, and I expect you to be well-behaved.”

Lifting me from the dirty tile floor, he carried me like a baby out to his car and placed me on the passenger seat. Petrified of what was going to happen next, I sat as still as a statue as he got into the car and drove north, back towards Chicago. He said nothing the entire drive home, but once we were both inside the apartment, he threw me on the bed and stripped me naked. Turning me over so that I was face-down on the mattress, he yanked forcefully on my hips, raising them in the air. He held tightly onto my hipbones as he viciously thrust himself into my virgin ass—no warning…no lube…nothing. I shouted out at the intense pain, and tears immediately began to stream down my face, but he didn’t stop thrusting until he was buried completely inside of me.

Leaning over, with his chest pressed to my back, he said in low, spine-chilling voice, “Anytime you fuck up, Princesa, someone will pay the price, and I will make you watch as I administer the punishment. You need to see the consequences of your actions, so don’t fuck up again if you don’t want any more blood on your conscience.”

He then fiercely fucked me until he came deep inside my asshole. He pulled out, not saying another word, then showered and left. I cried until I couldn’t see, and passed out with exhaustion.

That was the only time I ever tried to run away, but sadly, not the only bloodstains on my hands. It was only the beginning.

Kennedy Ryan: WHEN YOU ARE MINE

About WHEN YOU ARE MINE
Forever is a heartbeat away . . .

Kerris Moreton knows how to make things work. Bounced from foster home to foster home as a kid, she adapted; when opportunity arose, she thrived. Now, about to open her own business and accept a marriage proposal, Kerris is ready to build the life she's always wanted. The only thing missing? A passionate connection with her would-be fiancé, Cam. Kerris wants to believe that sparks are overrated-until Walsh Bennett lights her up like the Fourth of July.

 . . . but what about love?

As one of the East Coast's most eligible bachelors, Walsh enjoys financial independence, fulfilling work with his family's nonprofit, and plenty of female attention. But lately he's been distracted by the one woman he can't have. Lovely to look at and even sweeter to know, Kerris is the soul mate Walsh never thought he would find. The problem is, his best friend found her first . . .

MY REVIEW

Hope, curious, excitement and well.....

I liked this book.  The writing was good and it held my attention.  Walsh meets Kerris and is instantly attracted to her.  The only problem is she is engaged to his best friend Cam.  Walsh is a good man who was raised with money but was taught values and to care for others from the start.  He travels to other countries helping those in need.

Kerris has not had an easy up bringing.  She has made something out of her life and now is engaged to Cam who has had the same type of start to life as her.  She is a good person but very complacent.

This book was told mostly from Walsh's POV and I enjoyed being inside his head.  Call it love at first sight, insta love or what ever else it may be.  This was how Walsh felt the first time he Saw Kerris.  Walsh could not shake her from his thoughts, she became ingrained in his head before he could even control it.

Kerris always trying to do the right thing she marries Cam and is a good wife and a good person.  I did not feel that connected to her character but that could also be due to the book being mostly about Walsh.  It is obvious that she is fighting some internal battle when she is around Walsh.

All the other characters in the book Sofie, Cam, Walsh's dad and cousin Jo were good additions to the book.  I know there is so much more to all of them that I can not quite grasp and it leaves me very curious to see where they are going to go in the next book.  I liked that there were some issues resolved in this book that left room for healing and helping Walsh grow up and understand that everything is not as it seems.  I winder if the author did that for a reason.

I felt that the book was slow, but as I read it I realized that there is a purpose for it.  With that purpose comes a cliffhanger that is a little different than the usual ones I have come across. I am not going to leave you with any quotes this time.  I would recommend this book and look forward to the next one in this series.

ABOUT KENNEDY RYAN
Kennedy Ryan grew up in North Carolina, but loves living in Atlanta with her husband (tall – check, dark – check – handsome – check), and her handful of a son. Though she knew, like writers often do, that she was supposed to tell stories, the road to fulfillment has been paved with “some of everything” jobs that kept her family eating and living indoors. With her degree in Journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Tar Heels!), she has focused on writing for non-profit organizations and even doing some non-fiction ghost writing. Only in the last few years did she start telling stories again.

In addition to being a devoted wife and mom, she’s also a passionate advocate for families living with Autism. Her son was diagnosed at the age of two, and she has made it her mission to help as many families as possible find the resources and services they need. 25% of her royalties will go toward her national charitable partner Talk About Curing Autism and Myles-A-Part, her foundation serving Georgia families.
