Summary

I’d do anything to keep my mother alive.

Anything, including ask Ian Kerr for help. I don’t know much about him, except that he has more money than some small countries. And he’s willing to spend it on me. Just one catch: there’s a string attached, and not just the one I feel pulling me into his arms and his bed. There’s also the plan for revenge he wants my help with.

Every time he says my name, it makes my body shiver and my heart stutter. I know he’s going to wreck me, know there won’t be anything left of me but lust and sensation by the time he’s done with me, but even though I can see the heartbreak coming towards me like a train, ready to crash into me, I can’t get out of the way. I want what he makes me feel. Want what he’s offering.

This may have started out as something to save my mother, but now…now it’s about what he makes me feel. I’m in danger of losing everything that’s important. Worse? Ian's whispered words and hot caresses are making me believe that's okay.

EXCERPT
“What makes you think I’ll be done with you?” He says and he moves my hands upward until they meet in an arch above my head and he can grip my wrists in one big fist. Free, his left hand slides down my arm, leaving a trail of goose bumps in his wake. His mouth is on my chin, my jaw, and then my neck. He’s tasting me, pressing the flat of his tongue against my racing pulse. “Maybe I’ll never be done with you and your solid gold pussy.” At the last word, he closes his mouth over that pulse point and sucks hard. The only thing holding me up is his hand around my wrist. He pumps his thigh against me and an involuntary moan escapes my lips. “I don’t care,” I manage to choke out this obvious lie because my body cares a lot. “I’m not a toy. You don’t get to put me in Barbie’s expensive town home and play with me until you’re bored. I’m a fucking real person and my mom’s a real person. And we don’t need this shit right now.” He doesn’t stop my diatribe but he doesn’t lift his mouth from my skin either. He’s sucking hard at the spot where my neck curves into my shoulder and his hand is under my ass, moving me backward and forward along his thigh. His other hand has worked its way under my shirt and is palming my breast, a large thumb rubbing my nipple. I realize my hands are free and that I’ve been holding them above my head while he rubs all over me. When I drop my hands to his shoulders I find I can’t push him anyway. Instead, I’m using his shoulders as leverage to grind down on his thigh. The nerve endings of my sex are hyper sensitized and I swear I can feel every thread of his superfine wool pants. His leg moves, a tiny hitch, but it interrupts the rhythm and removes the pressure. “Don’t you stop,” I threaten him, all the heat in my tone has turned from anger to throaty desire. “Shh, bunny, I got you.” He lifts me completely and spins me around. I have no option but to wrap my legs around him. A few quick steps and we’re in another bedroom with one giant bed and nothing much else. He tumbles me back onto the bed and then lowers himself on top of me, and there’s nothing in my field of vision but the hard planes of his face and the ruddy flush of desire on the high points of his cheekbones. He looks fierce and hungry. Before I can capture another thought, his mouth is on mine and his hand is pushing aside the lace of my soaked panties. I’m moaning from both the feel of his thick tongue inside of my mouth and the sensation of one and then two of his fingers thrusting inside me. Sucking hard on his tongue, I lift my hips to grind against his hand. His free hand spears my hair and tugs my head back as if he can’t get his tongue deep enough inside me. He tastes of spearmint and earthiness, of true desire. My whole body is alive and it’s straining toward him, toward completion. I brace my feet against the mattress, seeking more pressure. Breaking away from his mouth, I pant, “Harder. Fuck me harder with your fingers.” I give him a quick once over. His suit is ruined. He never took even his coat off when he finger fucked me and I’m guessing the fragile wool wasn’t meant to be worn during any intense physical encounters. There are creases in the arms and shoulders were I clutched him and was that a … stain on his thigh. I ducked my head to hide my embarrassment. “You owe me a lot of explanations.” “I’ll be here when you’re done. Come back and we'll talk.” I give him an absent nod but it’s not sufficient of a response for him. He strides over and tips my head back. “I’m having this suit bronzed, you know.” My cheeks heat because I know he’s referring to the mark in the wool made from my arousal. He leans down and gives me a hard kiss.
“Come back here tonight.” It’s a demand and not a question.

Review - Abby's Survival

Synopsis
The sequel to Liv's Existence

Love and Loss.

Two tiny words, each with their own powerful impact. They can both happen at any given moment and both can forever change your soul. It’s how you allow it to change you that matters. The hard part is finding a balance when the loss gets overwhelming. How do you do that when everyone you thought you couldn’t live without leaves you?

Loss is inevitable. I’ve had enough in my life to know that much. Now I’ve just got to figure out how to survive it.

Ages 18+ due to adult situations and violence. Some situations may be difficult for some readers.

MY REVIEW

Heartwarming, emotional and healing are just a few words I felt while I was reading this book.  This book picks up right where Liv's Existence left off.  Olivia is in the hospital recovering from a vicious attack from Adam.  Kyle and Abby are right by her side to help her through this difficult time.

Olivia moves in with Abby, going back to her home is just to much for her to bear.  She shuts out Kyle and puts their relationship to a hault.  I understand where Olivia is coming from it just hurts to see her push Kyle away from her.  Kyle also upset me because he did not fight hard enough.  All this time and he just walks away. As much as I loved Kyle he got put on my shit list.

Olivia and Abby's friendship strengthens and forge a bond that is very strong.  Abby's character is nothing what I image a person to be.  She is better than most people. If you really look at the big picture here, she put all her emotions, thoughts and needs aside for Olivia.  Most people can not do that.

Olivia finally is getting the help she needs with Hannah and seems to be making progress until she has a HUGE set back and John is there to see it.  I did not realize how bad Olivia was until this point as well.  I like the relationship that Olivia and Abby have, there were times I was curious if things were going to take a different turn for them, they were very close and it did seem that the friendship could cross a new line.

Abby, this was so much her story as well (As the book is named Abby's survival).  She had a lot of secrets and while she wanted nothing more than to help Olivia heal from what Adam did to her and the terror that he put her through.  I knew Adam was a sick man, to learn what he did to her as well was alarming.  I felt the shame that Abby felt as well and understood why she did not want to tell anyone, Olivia included in what her past with him was about.  She was so focused on helping Olivia and really tried to put her feelings ahead of her own that she did not see what it was doing to herself.  Thank goodness for Hannah again.  She helped her through even if it did break her for a little while.

When I signed up for the blog tour I had no idea what I was getting myself into with these two books.  They were nothing like I thought they would be.  I am so glad that I read these books and enjoyed every word that written.

John stepped in and closed the door. “That isn’t the reception I was hoping for.” He locked the door.

“And what reception was that? I couldn’t get the parade together for you since you never called to tell me you were ever coming back.” I never looked up while I talked, but I had heard him lock the door and my excitement grew. If I looked up, he would’ve known I wanted him—despite how indifferent I was trying to be.

I should’ve kept my eyes on him. He was next to me before I knew it, and he startled me as he twirled my chair around and knelt down in front of me. “I like you in skirts, Abs.” He slid his hand up my thigh.

“Jo–John.” I stopped his hand. “You don’t get to ignore me for ten days and then come waltzing into my office expecting me to drop my panties for you.” I turned back to my desk, proud that I had stood my ground. I hadn’t done that before.

John sighed and got up to go back to the chair in front of my desk. “I’m sorry, Abby. I’m a fool that had to figure out a few things, but I figured them out, and I’m here now.” He watched me work in silence for a few minutes. “When can you get out of here, so we can have a proper celebration?”

“And just what are we celebrating?”

“Us.”

I didn’t know if I had heard him right. I wanted to jump over the desk and onto his lap, but I was scared that I had misunderstood what he was saying. I swallowed. “Us? What do we have to celebrate?”

“Why don’t we talk about that over dinner? So, when can you go?”

“Why do you automatically assume I’m free for dinner—or anything else, for that matter?” I was still pissed he hadn’t called for ten days and came in as if nothing had happened.

“You’re pissed. I get it, and I deserve it. I’m in town for a few days, and if you change your mind, give me a call.” He was up and had the door open before he finished.

“Are you going to call me back this time?” I was still hurt, but didn’t want him to leave.

“No, I’m going to answer and not let it go to voicemail. I really am sorry, Abs. When you want me, call me, and we’ll talk over dinner.” He turned and walked out.

I stared at my phone. I wanted to call him back to the office desperately, but I didn’t want to seem too desperate. Who was I kidding? I picked up the phone.

He didn’t answer the phone, but stepped back into the doorway with a huge smile. “I thought you’d never call.” He locked the door again and was back by my side with just a few large steps. He lifted me out of my chair and put my arms around his neck. “This is the greeting you will greet me with from now on.” He slapped my ass and kissed me hard. “Understood?”

I grabbed the bulge in his jeans. “Keep ordering me around and slapping my ass like that, and I’ll never touch your little friend here again.” I squeezed. “Understood?”

A slow smile spread across his face. “Completely.”

I tried to not smile, but failed. “You just took that as a challenge.” I turned back to my desk.

John grabbed me and pulled me to him. I placed my hands on his chest to brace myself for impact before I slammed into him. “I’m not finished with you yet.” He cupped my face and brought it to his. He kissed me so softly and sweetly that I had trouble catching my breath. I was glad to finally have something good steal breath from me. I gripped his shirt, trying to pull him closer.

He stopped kissing me, but still held my face and looked in my eyes. He whispered, “I love you, Abigail Hughes.”

My eyes shot open wide as I tried to push on his chest. I needed to be out of his grip, but he wouldn’t let me go. “You can’t love me. I’m no good for you.”

He pulled me to him and wrapped his big arms around me. “It’s scary, isn’t it? To let yourself be this vulnerable with someone again takes a lot of trust—and I’m very happy and honored you decided to trust me.”

MeetTheAuthor

B.L. Mooney started writing when the voices and storylines in her head ran out of room. They were getting too cramped and neither B.L. nor the characters could take it anymore, so she did the only thing she could do--she made room. She always knew she wanted to write, but vowed to make time for it later. Now that she's made time for writing, most everything else falls to the wayside. That seems to suit the characters that keep popping up just fine.

B.L. lives in the Midwest and her other talents include in-demand cookies, a very dry sense of humor, and stealth eavesdropping. Some mannerisms, attitudes, or twists come from random sentences picked up while passing by strangers. So speak up the next time you have something to gossip about. You never know, it may just end up on the pages of the next book you read.

Synopsis
add-to-goodreads-button31

Sometimes you reach a point where you just can’t take any more – a breaking point some call it. The day I watched my husband murder the woman who was pregnant with his child, my point didn’t just break, it exploded like a magazine firing through the barrel of a fully-automatic AK-47. Literally. I am no longer his American Princess, nor am I his slave. Now, I’m a murderer in hiding. My name was Bryleigh Carter Oliveira and that was my story.

Translucent is one woman's story of breaking free, starting over, and learning to trust again through willful submission.

Meet Madden Decker…

Immediately, she hangs her head to hide the tears and crosses her arms across her chest to cover her boobs. “I’m sorry for this,” she croaks in between her sobs. “I just want to go home.”

Rushing to her side, I’m hesitant to touch her, not wanting to inflict any additional pain. I lift her chin gently, forcing her to look up at me. “Don’t apologize, sweet girl,” I whisper soothingly. “Let’s get you cleaned up, and then we can talk about it. I didn’t mean to snap at you.” Tenderly, I kiss each of her tear-stained cheeks before leading her by the hand over to the shower.

“The spray of the shower will sting too badly. It’s better to clean them with a washcloth and then alcohol,” she reasons, obviously having done this before. “I can take care of it, Madden.

I stop mid-stride and turn to her, knowing damn well my eyes are full of pity – I can’t help it. “Okay, but please let me help you.”

With a slight nod of her head, I open the linen closet, pull out a couple of cloths, and guide her back to the sink. Wetting the first washcloth, I drop to my knees in front of her, putting me eyelevel with the lacerations. She keeps her arms tightly wrapped over her chest as I go to work, carefully cleaning up the red streaks from her bony rib cage and concave stomach which I notice aren’t all fresh, thus confirming this is a common occurrence. I bite my tongue to not comment on her frailness, but I don’t want to tear her down any more than she already is at the moment. Instead, I make a mental note to feed her every chance I get.

After nearly fifteen silent minutes, all of the blood is wiped away and I grab the bottle of rubbing alcohol from the medicine cabinet. Returning to my kneeling position, I peer up at her, making sure she’s ready for the burning sensation I know is about to come. Her eyes are closed tightly and she’s chewing nervously on her bottom lip. Her helplessness and fragility affect me in the most profound way. I want - no scratch that - I need to fix her like I need to take my next breath, and I have no fucking clue why. It scares me shitless.

EXCERPT

“Anytime, Leah, we’re family now, right?” I assure her. You can lean on me anytime.

“Yeah…right…family,” she almost whispers it to herself.

I sit, leaning against the wall with my knees propped up, watching her hang up the clothes I bought Dani today. She sorts them between short sleeve, long sleeve, and sweaters, and then color-codes them. She neatly places the shoes on the floor of the closet and then puts the pajamas into the dresser drawer. So precise and organized it makes me want to throw her down and kiss her senseless. Let her know it’s okay to be a mess sometimes and see what could happen when she unwinds a little.

“Adam, this was so nice. I really could have handled her clothes, but thank you.” She turns her head to look over her shoulder and smiles at me. My heart rate increases simply from the happiness I brought her.

“I told you, she’s my niece, too. I could barely find something warm enough for her to wear today in that suitcase.”

“I know, but you went to really nice stores. It must have cost you a small fortune.”

“Well, I know women like the expensive stuff.” She turns around and scrunches her forehead, but quickly smirks.

“True, but sometimes you would be amazed what you find in a sale’s bin.” Please, tell me I’m not what she considers some dollar store deal. She walks over to me and sits cross-legged across from me, taking in the transformed room. “It looks like a little girl room, right?” she asks.

“Definitely, just put a no boys sign outside, and it’s complete,” I joke, and she joins me.

“Good, it’s just when I came in here earlier, and she was putting those pictures up, I figured she needed a space that was hers. I’m beginning to think she’s never had her own space.” The love she feels for Dani lights up her eyes, making my heart open even more for her.

Review - Strings of the Heart by Katie Ashley

Twenty year old, Allison Slater has been in love with her brother’s bandmate, Rhys McGowan, since she was fifteen years old. But to him, she’ll always be Jake’s little sister and off limits. Now a college sophomore and licking her wounds from a bad breakup, she sets her sights on making Rhys see her as someone he could date…maybe even love. Her opportunity comes when Rhys visits his parents in Savannah where she is attending college. But the night she’s dreamed of turns to heart-break, and she realizes she’ll never be the one for Rhys.

For Rhys McGowan, his nightmare began when he woke up, naked and hung-over, next to his bandmate’s little sister. Unable to remember a thing from the previous night, he only makes matters worse by lying to Allison about not being interested in her. The truth is he’s spent the last year to ignore his body’s reaction whenever Allison is around. His resolve is tested when Allison comes on tour with Runaway Train, as both Jake and Abby’s nanny and to fulfill her fashion design internship. The more time he spends with her in the close quarters of the bus, the harder it is for him to resist.

Will Rhys realize that having a relationship with Allison is worth fighting for even if it means that he has to fight his best friend for a chance?

My 5 Star Review

My, my, Oh my how I love Rhys.  True story I love him, I do.  He really is a good guy who treats Allison so well. She is in Savannah going to school and Rhys just happens to be there as well (his family lives there).  Yes, in the beginning his intentions are as a big brother type, plus doing Jake a favor as he asked in Music of the Soul.

Now here I go.  Rhys finds Allison and lets her know that he was checking up on her for Jake's sake and his as well.  I enjoyed how they got along and while Allison was so happy to see him, his feelings were not mutual in that way.  I enjoyed the company that spent together and the two seemed really comfortable with one another.  One part of the book that had me laughing was Allison telling Rhys where one of her jobs was at.

"Let me get this straight.  You are underage and singing at a lesbian nightclub?"
"Mmm, Hmm."
Rhys stared at me for a moment before howling with laughter.  "What I wouldn't give to see Jake's face when he finds out."

What I enjoyed most about Allison was even though she was only 20 years old, she was mature, not some character that was crazy and out of control.  She had goals that she set for herself and she wanted to achieve them.  Allison did not use her brothers fame to get her anywhere.  I felt that she was going to make something for herself on her own terms.

Rhys, like I said, I love Rhys.  He is so different in this book from the other books and I loved it.  Yes he is a rock star, but boy Oh boy he was also a very loving brother and I just want to see him in a KILT (you will know what I am talking about when you read the book).  Here is the situation, his parents are Grade A assholes.  You here about people with "old, old money" and how rude they are, well to be like that to your own children is just wrong.  Yet, those are his parents.  Total superficial.

Let's not forget about the whole gang.  They all make an appearance, they all make me laugh and I love reading about the babies.  Rhys has his reasons for questioning his feelings for Allison and the relationship that he has with the band, Jake being the biggest reason of them all.  You see where I am going with this?

There is so much more to the book, it flowed wonderfully, the writing was great and I expected nothing more from the author.  Katie always delivers a good book that keeps me interested till the end.  So please go get your copy and enjoy a little Ryhs and Allison.
