Very Bad Things
Very Bad Things by Ilsa Madden-MillsMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
I loved this book.
Nora is the what people would think of as the typical rich spoiled brat. No one takes the time to see that she is in a lot of pain. She may look to have it all, rich parrents, designer clothes, smart and beauty queen. But on the inside Nora is fighting her demons. She is at her breaking point and is trying to get her head above water. She realizes that she no longer wants to be the "good girl" when her mother can care less about her unless she is making her mother look good. She decides to make a list of bad things to do.
Leo Tate is rasing his 18 year old little brother Sebastain after losing both parents. He is older by a few years and is making a rather good career for himself and Sebastian. He first see's Nora at Briarrcrest Academy's open house and assumes that she is a spoiled rich girl who has everything handed to her. he could not be further from the truth. The thing is he is attracted to her. Leo fights if off as he thinks she is Jail Bait. He should not have thoughts of this girl in his head.
They have a rather unsual first meeting and Nora is forced to help Leo out. As she spends time with Leo there attraction is evident but Leo sees that she is troubled and has some dark secrets. Nora tries to get Leo to admit that he feels the same way as her but he shuts her down almost at every turn.
Sebastian is a great friend who looks out for Nora and is always there for her. He drives his brother insane about his feeling for Nora too. Heck Sebastian love's Nora as well. He over hears Nora's deep dark secret and it is a big one. Nora has looked back at her life and realizes that those around her have happy moments and she has none. She wants those moments. To be happy.
"IF ther was something out there that made me happy, it was up to me to get it. I knew exactly what I wanted."
I love reading this book. Nora is very troubled and yet she finds her own happiness. She grows up a lot and she was already pretty mature. I felt bad for her as her parents were not active in her life, she was delt a shit card where money and status ment more to her mother (who I hate) than her own daughter. In the end Nora makes it through the dark and Well....
"I didn't wabt to do bad things; I wanted to be true to myself. And bieng true meant I was not the bee champion, beauty queen, piano-playing genius my parents had shaped me into. No, I was just a simple, young girl whose love for a boy would last until the end of time."
There are many great supporting characters in this book and I look forward to reading about them.

Teaser:
As I chewed on the end of my pen, I looked up and Gage was standing with his back and the sole of his shoe pinned against the wall. “You okay?” I asked with slight humor. His silence was really getting to me now. It wasn’t normal. No matter how busy I may have seemed, Gage was the type to bother me just a little bit before leaving me alone. “Yeah.” He smiled. “I’m all right. Just watching.” He pushed off the wall and made his way across the room to sit in the chair opposite me. “You really like this stuff, huh?” he asked, picking up one of the photos. “I do.” “You’ve been staring at it all night. You aren’t going to start drawing or painting or anything?” I shook my head. “Not yet. I want the outcome to be perfect. I don’t wanna rush it.” I looked at him again, sinking my teeth into my bottom lip. “Actually, I know what’ll help.” Gage’s eyes broadened. “Yeah? What?” Standing, I pushed from the table and picked up my camera. “I’ll take pictures of you… for my project. We were told to find pictures online and turn them into something else, but I think it’d be best to start fresh.” “So you’re gonna cheat?” he asked, laughing a little. I giggled. “No, silly. This is not cheating. It’s being creative. Now, come on!” I said, grabbing his wrist and dragging him to the living room. Gage stepped in front of me and smiled. “What do I do?” he asked, that smile still tugging at the corners of his lips. “Just strike a pose… anything. Make it sexy… serious… cute. Whatever. You know what to do. You do this all the time.” I held my camera in front of my eye and angled it at him. Laughing, Gage did a few poses. Some naughty. Some nice. And some just downright sexy. Each time the camera flashed, he’d switch it up, and each one was perfect. It was going to be hard choosing just three for my project. One picture I knew I was going to use. He sank his teeth into his bottom lip and licked it. His hazel eyes were narrowed right at the camera, his stance firm yet casual. After I snapped my last shot, I lowered my camera and grinned at him. “You’re a pro at this, huh?” Shrugging, he walked toward me. I told him to stop and held the camera in the air to take a photo of us together. Grabbing the camera out of my hands, Gage kissed my cheek and then took a step back. “My turn. Pose for me—and make it sexy! No bullshit.” He laughed out loud, those adorable chinks forming around his eyes as usual. I swallowed a little as my nerves got the best of me, but as Gage stepped in front of me and placed a kiss on my forehead and then my cheek, I looked up at him and comfort snuck up on me. “Just have fun. It’s what I do. I used to hate it, but now… it’s pretty cool.” “Right.” I blew out a breath and took the spot in front of the window where Gage stood. He placed the camera in front of his eyes, his lips hinting at a smile. I knew he was staring at me. My poses at first were silly and evidently corny, but as the flash of the camera happened more and more, I decided to get sexier for him. I’d bite my lip, smile at him beneath my eyelashes. Each flash from the camera took longer and longer until finally Gage pulled the camera away and looked directly at me. His eyes were hungry, his face hard. He was serious now, and I was confused, turned on, and a little excited by it. In an instant, he marched for me, picking me up in his arms and crushing my lips with his. My chest pressed on his and my breath caught the more our tongues collided. He panted hard, almost greedy with his actions. He pulled away a few inches and brought his hand up to brush his calloused thumb across my moist bottom lip. His other hand was still glued to my waist, pulling me closer. This wasn’t how the night was supposed to turn out at all, but I refused to fight it.Meet Shanora:

old daughter Tatiana makes his life downright hard. She has caught the eye of
Travis, the new President of the rival MC Gunners, but all she really wants is
Shadow, the newest addition to the Breakneck family. When Shadow’s rejection
sends Tatiana running from the only family, home, and safety she’s ever known,

prove to be Zig Zag’s downfall.
If that isn’t enough, ZZ finds
himself rampantly attracted to the one and only Storm. She’s beautiful, quick
and witty. Their friendship is the one thing that keeps him from growing crazy,
and Storm stands by ZZ through all the turmoil. Zig Zag is not accustomed to hearing
the word no, so Storm’s constant withstanding just draws him in deeper. Their
friendship is one thing keeping him from going crazy, until one night…

helps Greg Cage deal with some dirty business.

Trauma… Welcome back to the Breakneck world.
Excerpt:
It’s been two fuckin weeks since Mira stopped by the damn clubhouse wanting to talk to my daughter. What gives her the fucking right? She left me to raise a child at the age of thirteen, and eighteen years later, she thinks she can magically return into Tatiana’s life? Yeah, that’s right; I’m a thirty-one year old man with an eighteen-year-old daughter. Judge me bitches. I don’t give a shit. I admit I’m sitting at Club Sated and getting wasted off my ass over this shit. Why am I here, and not at Breakneck? Well, there’s plenty of naked pussy around, and when any man is upset and feeling down, he wants to be around pussy. Don’t let any of them lie to you. But there’s this one bitch here that I want and for the first time in my life, a bitch doesn’t want me back. I don’t see what the big deal is. I just wanna take her home and fuck the shit outta her. Hell, we don’t even have to leave the club. I can fuck her right here. I’m sure Winter and Braxxon wouldn’t give a shit, but then again, they just might because the bitch my cock is aching for is their manager Storm. And shit do I wanna ride that Storm.
Storm is just another piece of ass, but for some reason, something about this woman fascinates me. She’s a fucking young buck too. She’s Winter’s age, only twenty two. That’s literally only four years older than my own daughter is. You would think that alone would detour my cock, but it doesn’t.

He runs a finger down my cheek. “You’re blushing.”
“I’m always blushing around you.”
“I know,” he says, a shy grin escaping as he leans closer to me. “I’ve always wanted to kiss you when you’re blushing.”
I draw back slightly to meet his dark, heated gaze. Breathing seems suddenly impossible, and the space between us too far. “Oh?”
“I’ve wanted to put my mouth”—his finger traces a path over the apple of my cheek—“here and . . .
“Here.” His thumb grazes my cheekbone and then down my neck. “And here and here and here.”
“Just so you know,” I say, leaning into his touch, as his fingers continue to stroke me, pet me, caress my skin that burns under him, “I’ve wanted you to do the same. And I—”
I swallow heavily as Caleb’s head swoops down and he presses his mouth against the pulse in my neck. His teeth graze oh so gently against me as his tongue soothes the mark, and then his lips trail up my neck.
“You were saying?”
My hands clutch on his shoulders. “I want to kiss you. Everywhere.”

Excerpt
Adrian runs his hands up my arms and
shoulders until they grasp both sides of my neck to tilt my head back so that
I'm staring straight into his arctic blue eyes. I immediately start trembling,
and it's not with fear. That whiskey-laden voice drips with passion. "Celeste,
I'm begging you not to leave here looking like that. You look gorgeous, babe,
but I can't sit here all night wondering who's hitting on you, who's imagining
moving that scrap of fabric over to get a glimpse at what is..."
"What is what?" I breathe
heavily.
"What is underneath it all?" His brow
wrinkles, and I feel his hands tighten their pleasurably painful grip. "What is
underneath it all?"
"Just me, Adrian, just me," I breathe.
"That's all."
"So everything then. Just like I
thought." He removes one of his hands to run it up the back of my thigh. My eyes
widen and I swallow hard.
"That's not a good idea," I whisper. His
hand wraps all the way around my thigh, his fingertips coming to rest along the
crease of my left cheek. My thigh pulses with fire.
"Why not?" His fingertips tease back and
forth a little. Even though it’s a light touch, it feels like his calloused
fingertips mark me.
My voice is strained. "Why not? Look at
us. We can't even have a civil conversation for everything that has passed
between us, and you want to further complicate it. What you're doing will
further complicate matters."
His hand stills. He exhales loudly and
lets his head drop on my chest. "You do this to me. I don't act like this. That
day in the park, watching you cross and uncross your legs. Throwing your hair
over your shoulder. Laughing without a care in the world. Cheering me on like it
was your favorite thing to do! It killed me. Killed me. I've never wanted a
woman the way I want you. Never."
His words rain down on me like fiery
drops of lust. I close my eyes and rewrite that memory. I thought he was just
being an ass, but his unexpected anger was because he was yearning for me. I
bite my lip, open my eyes, and shake my head. "It's just because you can't have
me, Adrian. I'm nothing special."
"Oh, baby, you have no idea." He runs his nose up
my throat, scenting me as he goes. I lean my neck back, giving him more access
even as my brain screams at me to run—not walk—out of this room. But when he
says, "You're everything to me." My head falls back even further and my eyes
close again as I feel him slant his head and attack my jaw, throat, and neck
with closed-mouth kisses. I hear myself moan and give myself one more little
jolt to try to spare myself from this delicious torment that will only end in
frustration.

Teaser
Trash, toilet paper and a few smokers huddled together for warmth decorate the front lawn. A loud bass line thumps from inside and Sawyer’s head is bobbing to the music like a dashboard doll as we make our way up the walk to the frat house. Neither one of us are a Sig, but I’m thinking nobody tells Sawyer he can’t join the party, so I figure I’m golden. All I want to do tonight is forget; erase from my mind all that is my new school, my forfeited jersey and my blonde no more. Seeing her in Algebra every week is gonna suck, and I’m not sure how long I’ll be able to treat her with cold indifference, it just doesn’t feel right. We were friends before we were anything else, for so long, but I’m not sure yet if we can get it back there. Not having her in my life at all is foreign, and hurts like hell, but I’m not sure I can pull it off. Not wanting to do the mental debate thing for the hundredth time in days, I follow Sawyer into the party, vowing internally not to think of it, her, us, them, again tonight. We hit the keg straight away, then head over to a group of people Sawyer knows. Introductions are made and the only one I register is Josie, a short, really pretty brunette across from me. Yes- I still have eyes. I give her a smile and hold her hand in mine longer than a normal “nice to meet you” shake, rubbing my thumb across her wrist on the release. I just want to connect with someone, anyone, even for a moment. I’ve always been one-half of a whole, always known the girl in the room who was “mine,” and now I’m lost. Sawyer picks up on my interest in her and gives me a nod, turning his attention to her friend, guiding her away to dance. Very nice. I’ve got one foot in the stirrup, ready to fling my leg over and get “back on the horse” when a pair of small hands cover my eyes from behind. “Guess who?” a sweet voice whispers in my ear.Cover Re-reveal of Emerge (Evolve Series 1)

Beneath the Surface

Kyran Reese is a man in control. Driven when it comes to work, focused when it comes to play. From his office to the chalk circle of Metro’s bare-knuckle boxing ring, his only thought is to win. That thirst heightens when Dale Porter enters his life. His brother’s assistant should be off-limits, but her witty comments and sarcastic comebacks have him desperate to get her between the sheets. After receiving an unexpected left hook, Kyran gets exactly what he wants, though he makes the rules very clear.
When Dale agrees to Kyran’s relationship stipulation of no labels, she’s sucked into a whirlwind of lust, money, and underground boxing. The agreement to keep their lust away from the office is discarded when rules are molded to suit their ever-increasing attraction. Dale fights her growing affection, trying to hide it even when the world around them spirals out of control. All too soon she realizes she can’t hide her true feelings any longer.
Kyran begins to wonder if he’s finally met his match, and with his family falling apart before his eyes, he turns to the two things he knows will keep him sane: boxing and Dale. Those crutches can’t last forever, and when Kyran finds it harder to function he is left with a decision he never thought he’d have to make.
Could playing to win mean playing for keeps?
Author Bio:M. A. Stacie is never without a book or her eReader. A voracious reader, with a love of sexy, yet angst ridden novels, she adores getting lost in new worlds. Her need to write did not grip her until after her second son was born, when her previous rambles became fully fledged stories.
She describes herself as one huge contradiction, and though not the most conventional of hobbies, she counts getting new tattoos as one of hers. Along with knitting, listening to loud music, and playing the Wii with her children. M. A. Stacie lives in the UK with her husband and three sons.
